Hei Jos

I found information in the BAMA Freiburg about TA and TB in 3 and 6 Schartentürmen which had been changed into and TC Lafetten in the Westwall in 1945. My problem was basicly that I also havened heared anything about those Lafetten.

Now meanwhile, I also setted up this question in a other Forum and got information from Markus/Projekt Westwall who is also active here in this Forum. So the information I have reseaved so far, are based on the discovery work of Markus, so the honour and my big thanks goes just to him.

Schartenlafette Modell A (MG 34)
Used from the beginning of the Eastwall and the Westwall untile 1940
Physical characteristics: Foldable endpiece of the Lafetten-shoulderpiece, delivery of the empty cartridges into a bag.

Schartenlafette Modell B (MG 34)
Used from 1940 and also in the Atlanticwall, use in the Westwall is so far not sure or proofen.
Physical characteristics: Fixed, nonfoldable Lafetten-shoulderpiece, delivery of the empty cartridges truth a flexible pipe.

Schartenlafette Modell C (MG ????)
Used from the end of 1944
Description or physical characteristics so far not known.

So the Schartenlafette Modell C or Modell TC is our big mystery to solf, as well as the type of MG what was used in this Lafette. Another question is also, if the Modell B or Schartenlafette TB was in use in the Atlanticwall cupolas under what name is it nowadays known by the Atlanticwall guys?

So maybe someone can help to solf this mystery?

Greetings Saska

Interesting info yes! Never noticed the difference really, I'm going to check all my photos ;)
I was also thinking about the MG-42 setup, but wasn't the B-Werk the only account of where it it was tested?

Hi Jos,

I know- but there is nowhere explained, what was the C Lafette for...

In the BB is written, that there should be changed the Laffetten in all turrets to the new C Lafette, but this was
not often possible, because the bunkers where in combat and most of the Lafetten lay in the destroyed Pionier- Park Essen frozen, snowed in and rusty.

Hi Jos,

Is there a photo of the Type C lafette in said book or is it only text?

The Lafette in the third picture posted by Markus has a proper Hülsenleitung.
I can't tell if it's the right Wiege, but could that actually be the Tc version?

Yep you can even read the Panzerzielfernrohr number. It's Zeiss Ikon 5093.

Hi guys,

The real point about this picture the combination of an old Lafette type with cartridge collection by bag an the pipe evacuation on the turm floor.
When you are in a turret and accurately look at this evacuation it is clear that is welded to the grid floor. It is compatible with a design evolution and post fabrication addition to fit with the new TC Lafette design.

Kind regards
