S 448a

#1

Post by AvB » 12 Apr 2011, 15:36

I'm looking for the locations of S 448a and their look-a-likes.

The three ammunition bunkers of Batterie Mirus are 2 meter versions of the S 448a, their layout is slightly different. They look like early versions of the S 448a.

I'm looking for plans of the ammo bunkers of Plouharnel, Paimpol and Vara too because they resemble the S 448a.

Hello Arthur

I think that you are right that the ammunition bunkers at Mirus are not S 448a .
not only the wall are 2 meter but also the outer form is different . Must be a earlier
S type .

There is also the S 174 http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 0&t=115980

Regards Jos

P.S. there must also be a S 448a at M.K.B. Husoen ??

As jopaerya mentioned the MKB 1/607 Husöen has an S448a to support its three 28cm SKL/45. It was built as a Bausterke B (2 meter) instead of A, also planned with single set of entrance doors instead of double. The entrance is extended to make up for the loss of the set of doors. The bunker type is designed for railway but this battery did not have that luxury. You also mention the S174 at Vara. It has two built just like the drawings. Both in relative good nick today as I have visited them both. I have made models of both types that can be downloaded for Sketchup as a 3D Model. Both includes realistic inventory.

Room below railway was coal fired climate control. Not modeled as it was modified after the war with more modern dehumidifiers.

Inventory was written on the wall and still exists today. Picture can be found somewhere in the forum

the S 448a ( number in bauplan ) at M.K.B. Husoen used 2000 cbm .
