What's the difference between an "ARBEL platform" and a traverse wheel/platform?

Hi Stefan

I don't think there is any difference. From memory the ARBEL platform wasissued to units in the anti-tank role. It was to make life easier for the gun crew when re-laying the gun.

Thank you for the link, Emmanuel.

It seems that this device was adopted in 1935

Hello,

The "plateforme Arbel modèle 1935" was built to 1000 exemplars.
First, the Arbel platforms were issued to anti-tanks batteries (4 platforms in each Battery).
When the 47 mm anti-tank was introduced in service, the platform Arbel was issued to each 75 mm gun Artillery Battery (1 platform in each battery), so most 75 mm guns batteries were able to use at least one gun in anti-tank mission in 1940.
In 1920-1930 years, it was also the "plateforme à lambourde d'ancrage" which was used in anti-tank mission.
The older platform was anchored in the ground and it took time to install. The Arbel Platform was much more easy to use because it was only clasped on the ground.
See my paper with photographs of these two typs of platforms in french Review "GBM" nr 106, dated october 2013.
Yours sincerely,
Guy FRançois.

I wonder if there were a designation such as 7,5 cm Flak 97(p) in addition to the (f) designation since
- there was the 7,5 cm FK 97(p) field gun
- the Polish Army used 75 mm Mle 1897 on Mle 1915 platforms as the 75 mm wz. 97/25
- many of these AA guns on cylindrical concrete mountings seem to have been used by the Germans in Poland (see remains)
