Ground anchors for heavy guns
Re: Ground anchors for heavy guns
Hello
Please shoot at the theory's
The 15 cm K. in Mörserlafette and 15 cm S.K.C/28 in Mörserlafette are the same gun ?
According to D 435/1 also rounds of the 15 cm K.18 could be fired from this gun ?
The breech of the 15 cm K/15 cm S.K.C/28 in M.L. is not from a 15 cm S.K.C/28 , so
this would mean that only the barrel was used not the breech ?
The 15 cm K/15 cm S.K.C/28 in M.L. has a barrel lenght of L/55 ?
Regards Jos

15cm K. in Mörserlafette = 15cm SKC/28 in Mörserlafette - just different designation
the breach was modified for using the Mörserlafette
this gun used Marineammunition (Patronenmunition)
here some pics of s.Art.Abt.(mot.)625 equippted with 15cm K.i.Mrs.Laf - one and only Abteilung with this gun 1940-42
last picture with ground anchors too...
PS: the soldier wrote in his diary "guns from ship Blücher who sinked in norway" - but i think its not correct, isent it?

Thank you very much for sharing these images, Uwe.
See also http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 0&t=157927.
I think it is imposible differenciate between the 17cm K18 gun from the 15cm SK C28 in Mörserlafette.
I do not see any external difference in the barrel

Re: Ground anchors for heavy guns
Great document uwe, vielen Dank !
The official designation on an official German document:
But on the Kriegsgliederung des Feldheeres of November 1940, it is shortened as SKC 28 :
The 15 cm SKC/28 guns were replaced at one point in 1942 by 3 x 15 cm K 39. I guess the C/28 guns may have been worn out by then.

Re: Ground anchors for heavy guns
hello Emmanuel
in 1940 the Org.Abt. had to create new tactical signs for the new 15cm K. variants: K39, K18 and 15cm K. i.Mrs.Lafette
so the signs in several times changed in "Kriegsgliederung des Feldheeres" -
in August 1941 s.Art.Abt. (mot.) 625 re-equipted into 15cm K.39 in Pleskau
demand at Aug 20th 1941 - instruction at Aug 25th 1941
new: 9x 15cm K.39 instead of 8x 15cm K. i. Mrs.Lafette
i think one reason was the annormal ammunition (no Heeres ammunition - just Marine) for the guns and problems with supply

Re: Ground anchors for heavy guns
Thanks uwe, so 1941 not 1942 for the K39.
Lack of proper ammunition is indeed is a possibility. But I would have expected the Heer to send the C/28 guns back west and installed them later on the Atlantikwall if they were still usable
