Interesting to note that this gun has its shield removed while the gun in the background still has its shield.

The other sides of the above pictures in the ebay auction refer to 2./HKAA 144 and 1./HKAA 906 in 1942, both batteries were deployed in Crimea.

The pictures show gun # 2 "Berta" (letter "B" on the shield) and gun # 6 "Friedrich" ("F" on the shield). Therefore, we can deduct that it was a 6 gun-battery, not a 4-gun battery.

Hello Emmanuel

Heeres-Küsten-Abteilungen: i think all batteries of 15,5 cm K. (f) in "Abteilungs"-formation had 6 guns

--------

please see here too

http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 0&t=199450

Heeres-Küst.Art.Abt.708 /and Heeres-Artillerie-Abteilung 798 (bodenständig) had 2 batteries of each 6 x 15,5 cm K. 416 (f) and 3rd of russian 12,2 cm guns and 4./708 of 3 x 20,3 cm H. 503 (r)

Image

(before it were reorganisized into 3 batteries of each 4 x s. 10,5 cm K. 35 (t) i think it was this weapon)

Uwe,

Could we deduct then that the pictures show guns of an HKAA and not of a more standard Heeres-Artillerie unit?

Hello Emmanuel,

so its absolut the same unit - just renamed

6 gun batteries were introduced in Heeresartillerie not before summer 1944 - so the abteilungen had 2 batteries of 6 guns each than before 3 batteries of each 4 guns.

Heeres-Küsten-Art. Abt. with 3 batteries of 6 guns 15,5 cm K. (f) just started in 1941
