7,7 cm Rheinmetall BAK L/27 M.1914 in WW2

#1

Post by Manuferey » 08 Oct 2011, 17:19

Here are two pictures from a series on ebay.de showing a 7,7 cm Rheinmetall BAK L/27 M.1914 being installed in an emplacement in WW2.
The second picture shows teenage Germans and « old » soldiers. I assume it is a Flak training ground and the young Germans are in the RAD or HJ.

I know that the Austrian army used this type of gun before the Anschluss. Do we know if the Reichwehr still use any ?

This gun used for Flak training could provide an explanation for the WW2 pictures supposedly taken in Holland and discussed here: http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 2&t=162045
The location could be a German Flak training ground.

Nice sharp pictures , in the last years of the war every gun that could fire and had some ammunition
was put in service . Just like this old W.W. 1 gun , most photo's I have seen from W.W. 1 the gun was
placed on a truck ( Erhart )

last ones are Krupp 7,7cm L27s, not R'metall.
BTW R'metall gun was still mass produced by the Italians in 7,5cm cal. so maybe it is an Italian gun?

Hello Nuyt

Sharp observation , because the W.W. 1 pictures looks to have a smaller barrel
and they have not the specific end of the barrel . Do you have more information
or picture's of these Italian 7.5 cm guns ??

Jos, Nuyt,

I don't think it is a 75 mm Italian 75/27 CK:
- the conical part of the tube in front of the axis is not exactly the same.
- the recoil tube underneath the barrel is shorter on the Italian gun.

See the comparison with a 75/27 CK (http://www.italica-virtus.it/iv01/img_art090.jpg):

On the picture's that I found on internet from the Italian 75 mm Italian 75/27 CK ,
the mount is not the same as we have on the picture's in this tread . The quest is still on .

I agree it's not Italian, but could have been ex-Austrian (they had 5 in 1937)

I also think of the Austrian origin unless the Reichswehr operated this gun, which I don't know.

Yes but it is a 7,7 cm Krupp BAK L/27 M.1913, not a Rheinmetall BAK. Nice find, Jos. 8-)

Here is another picture from ebay for comparison.
