Hi all,

Does anyone know what model of howitzer was used in the italian Semovente da 105-25? :?
Was it a model designed especially for this vehicle, or an adaptation of a piece of field artillery?

Hi!
I'm not sure, but it seems it was a gun Cannone da 105/28 with the barrel reduced to 25.

Good Day
The old Bellona Military Vehicle Print Series 36 says
" This howitzer was based upon the standard 105 mm L/23 Field Howitzer of the Italian Army,
which was already in production at the Ansaldo works."
Do not know if newer info has come forward as the Series is Dated 1974
From the for what it's worth files...

Hi all,

The only 105mm italian howitzers I know are prototypes of 105/20 Ansaldo and 105/23 OTO, and these remained in prototype stage.
The italians had as standard howitzers, the 100mm Skoda M14 L17 and 100mm Skoda M14/19 L22.

Therefore, none of these howitzers match with the weapon of Semovente da 105/25.... :? :?

Any idea about this self-propelled gun? Country? Caliber? Year?

You can add this little jewel to the topic:

It's a 12cm (120mm) Japanese naval gun mounted on a Type 97 chassis, captured/taken possession by the Americans at the Miura Peninsula, in Japan, at the end of the war. Yellow Cat has the conversion kit in 1/35th scale.

A destroyed Sturmpanzer in Italy, therefore, from Sturmpanzer Abteilung 216. The US soldier is Jesse Willard.

Here is a picture (expired ebay.de auction) of a German antitank unit in the USSR. The Renault UE tankette in the foreground has a very large shield with what could be the covered rear of an antitank gun. This is the first time I see such a large shield on a UE. Does someone have a front view of a UE with a large shield?

Emmanuel, do you think it is possible that the gun is a British 2 pounder ? The way the gun mount spreads out under the gun reminds me of the 2 pounder any way. It is a shame that there doesn't appear to be any sign od a sight of any kind.
