Antenna's in the area Bayeux and coastline

#1

Post by jopaerya » 21 Jul 2012, 15:24

Hello All

I had some off-line discussion with Cédric Lemonnier about the many antenna's that should have been build
in the area between Bayeux and coast line , there are several names known from documents and maps .
Maybe some name's and stations from the 5 have the same location that is also possible . Are there any
war or post-war picture's of these station , anything is welcome .

1) M.P.N.S. Bayeux ( Grenzwellen ) { Kriegsmarine } http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 3&start=30
(2) Elektra/Sonne 3 ( three large anttena's 2 kilometers apart ) Fu.S.An 700 { Luftwaffe } http://www.fortendenhelder.nl/radars/elektrasonne.htm
(3) Peilstelle Erika ( W.n 47 )
(4) Störstelle or Fu.M.B. Wellensettich
(5) Peildorf Ulme

Hi Jos,
A few years ago we visited (Wn46) the place where the Elektra/Sonne stood.
On Google/Geoportail the place where it stood (Elektra or Sonne) was
recognizable but when we were there we could find nothing.
On Google/Geoportail you can see the central antenna and the place of some
of the anchorblocks.
We did not look for additional bunkers.
Greetings Jack.

Hi Jack

Thanks for the information , a few remarks the Elektra/Sonne 3 must have hade 3 large antenna's
on a quit a distance from each other as you can see on the map from Erik Ettrup and also strange s
that the w.n. 46 is colored in blue that should indicate that it's Kriegsmarine a other option could
be that the W.n 46 was the marine M.P.N.S. Bayeux ??

Maps = Erik Ettrup and Lenco van der Weel

Hi Jos and SES,
I know Elektra-Sonne used more than one antenna to get a result.
For me it was strange just to find only one antenna base after a good look on Google.
But did not find the other ones in the area, but on Google there are a lot of crops on the fields, so it would not be strange to find only one antenna base.
Still it was strange that only one Wn was on the map, the one at Camperduin has 3 Wn's for Elektra-Sonne.
By the way my map is in black and white so no colours to go by.
Attached you find two google print for Wn 46 with the print of the antenna base, but in real life we did not find it.
Greetings Jack.

Hello Jack

Maybe the soil is colored that why you can see it on a arial picture , but you never find it on the spot .
Personel I think the M.P.N.S. Bayeux was placed in W.n. 46 witch also used any different antenna's ,
but that would mean were was the Elektra/Sonne placed ??

Hi Jos,
On your map it says Sonne Nord, Mitte and Süd or do I misunderstand your question?

Hi Jos,
I think the anchor blocks are still present but with a minor layer of soil over them so that grass can grow.
Only in the summer or another very dry moments of the year they are recognisable.
Greetings Jack.

Hello Jos

North of Bayeux, you can find 3 large antenna's with 2,9 km of distance from each other .

its can be Elektra/Sonne ?

Hi Ben,
Could well be!
But the Elektra-Sonne of Camperduin is also about 3km long.
With the antenna's +/- 1.5 km in North and south of the middle one.
Could it have had a different frequency?

Edit, measured with GE and the outher towers are about 4km's out of each other.
Only the buildings of the middle towercomplex can be seen, dit not search for the other two.
Greetings Jack.

Hello again Ben

The antenna's must have been at one of the W.n. of Stp. Port en Bessin , W.n. 51 and W.n. 47b ,
strange is the map from Alain with the Windmesstelle adn Freya at W.n. 51 .

Regards Jos
