M170 Kernwerk De Beer Hoek van Holland
M170 Kernwerk De Beer Hoek van Holland
Here is a first glimp of the M170 Kernwerk on the former island De Beer on/in Hoek van Holland.
If there is somebody who has ventilation plans I would be more then happy to model the pipes too. Is it known if there was a device connected to the three vent niches in the gun room ?
And was there a device for transporting the ammo through the openings/slots in the gun room back wall and could these be shut off in case of a gas attack ?
All those details....
And questions about them

Re: M170 Kernwerk De Beer Hoek van Holland
it s a miror build M 170
Very rare
i don t think they are "gastight"
don t think at all no ventilation

The backside has 4 air exhausts openings, in sets of two. So my best guess is that there should have been some sort of ventilation.dirk Peeters wrote:it s a miror build M 170

Is it possible that there was a two way system:
1) extraction of smoke from the gun room > three openings in the backwall.
2) filtered air with overpressure from the other rooms.
Why would you have four (small 100mm pipe, "rosts" 200mm) vent openings ? The gun room itself has one big opening at the front so extraction is the logical option there.
Thanks,
Wim

Hello Wim
This is not a drawing of the M 170 but a other naval gunbunker , here you can see the "Lufter"
in the basement with the openings just behind the breech of the gun and the pipes to the back
of the bunker . Maybe the M 170 used the same technique ??
Drawing = Hans Sakkers

Re: M170 Kernwerk De Beer Hoek van Holland
There is obviously a problem of confusion between the M170 and 176 yes, but as none is able to make the difference is this "mess" (170, 176 and 270)...
Re: M170 Kernwerk De Beer Hoek van Holland
Hello
The M 176 in the middle is a M 170 with a 621

Also the Fl 246 behind the M 162a has no type number on the drawing , Regards Jos

Eye of the tiger Jos, thanks.
Dirk, as long as we are not able to recognize a M176 or M170 or M270 without german documents, I consider that we can't make the difference between them. Differences must be rather subtle !
