Sorry for the blurry drawing but you can see the racks for the shells and grenades in the gun room behind the passages

Hello Dirk

Sorry for the bad post , I meant the iron racks were placed in the gunroom
to lay the shells and the grenades on when they left the two passage .

I think your picture were bares to prevent the staged shells or grenades from rolling away .

On my trip to Denmark last month i revisited thje batterie Hanstholm I where there are 4 M 270
I ve measured as usual each one and a very strange thing we can see here
Two M 270 have straight passages (just as in France and two have straight but inclining passages
here are two plans of them the others are not finished yet
DK 27 Hastholm I (1).jpg
DK 27 Hastholm I (2).jpg
as we can see the passages are modified by the germans by making the openings smaller

here the second M 270
DK 27 Hastholm I (3).jpg
here we see the heavily modified passages
This is the bunker who has not the straight passages (not drawn yet)

it was the only batterie with M 270 i visited this last trip

i ll scan the plans in a few hours but 1 thing is for sure altough the Baufortschrifttsmeldung gives M 270 one in reality is a straight M 170
very strange that its constructed in 09 05 1944 (Bauwerk nr 13442) but like in Hanstholm I , here the germans modified the passages with added concrete

Hello Dirk

As always there were exceptions on the rules , it's not always black or white , sometimes grey .

i ll know that already a long time Jos but here the germans use an old type instead the obligatory new M 270
the second one is also a M 170 in this battery , the other two are completely buried so maybe these are genuine M 270 but that we ll never know for the moment
but it s the same thing as in france we got to double check even the german baulistes hahaha

DK 13 Lokken Sud (3).jpg
DK 13 Lokken Sud (4).jpg
here on of the two M 170
there are still two not measured because completely buried so these two we can t say they are also M 170 or as the beuliste gives M 270
i wonder what Frederickshaven will give ... but that is for june or july (next trip there)

Dear Friends,

This is drawings from Notes on German Fieldworks No 3, dated February 1944. The drawings are about a "Pillbox for 15cm. (estimated) coast defence gun".

This is the note about the pillbox (p. 11 of the notes):
"Appendix XVII sheets 1 and 2 gives details of a pillbox for a 15 cm. coast defence gun. The concrete is standard thickness of 6 ft. 7 in. and the structure provides storage for shells, cartridges, fuzes, rear M.G. defence and a chamber for spent ammunition under the gun platform.

It will be noted that the pillbox may be constructed to one of three arcs of fire, 80, 100 and 120 degrees."

Best regards from Le Havre,

Sébastien Haule
