Bunkers in Istria/Croatia
I just returned from my holidays in Banjole/Croatia.
Near our hotel beach there was a bunker/pillbox obviously build in order to protect the bay (GPS 44.817989, 13.853555).On a boat trip along the coast I saw several similar other bunkers.
Is this a A-H, WW2 or post war jugoslav bunker?
regards
Helmut

I agree with Jos. The round shape looks very Italian. You have more Italian MG posts along the coasts there.

Thanks.
Another picture of the interior: What is the round metal plate good for, is it a mount for a machine gun or for optical equipment?
regards
Helmut

Hello Helmut
I can't find the picture but the mount was used to support a leg for the M.G. tripod .

Hi Arthur. Those ex-Yugoslavian casemates, equipped with Italian Ansaldo 90 mm guns are located at the Vis island. The guns were damaged by the Yougoslavian soldiers before the retreat. There are many similar Cold War batteries at the former Yugoslavian coast.AvB wrote:This photos were on Facebook. These are Croatian postwar casemates right?
