AvB wrote:To what extend was the OT part of building the Atlantikwall defences? Did local contractors do much more, or were they supervised by the OT?
From my sources it seems the local contractors were supervised by the OT. Although near the end of the war this changed en many contractors became part of the OT. Not really part of it but more forced labourers. My sources cover the area of Groningen only though.

Also a while back I made an OT Abbreviation list:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... sp=sharing
Maybe Ill update it sometime with company Abbreviations.

/edit Seems the document was set to private. Its now open :)

Hello,

The OT had bad relations with the Festungpionner. The original deal were "the Pionniers design, the OT build", but each one criticized the other. There were a kind of competition between them and in some cases -indirectly due to political decisions- the OT more and more designed AND built some bunkers.

That's why some bunkers are untraceable in Fest. Pi. archives. There is some reasons to believe that OT ended to create it's own typology, mainly Ls-bunkers in my mind (see attachment).

Bye

Thanks Erwin, nice list!

"The Organisation Todt and the Fortress Engineers in the Channel Islands" 168 pages, illustrated, is available from the Channel Islands Occupation Society Jersey at www.ciosjersey,.org.uk.

It gives an overview of the OT as well as dealing with the CI specifically.

Hi John

Interesting, do you send / sell books to Denmark?

http://ciosjersey.org.uk/

If you have a facebook or a scribd login you can download this interesting document:

Hi Kurt,

As I will be coming to see you in about a fortnight perhaps we can assist a bit here....why pay the post when I can deliver them in person to you :-)

P.M. me to the address we have been using to work out my trip with what you might like. As JTG says look at the CIOS Jersey website, work out what you want and let me know!

cheers

Hey Kurt,

Your last picture is from the construction of the Fl250 in Esbjerg in Strandskoven. Probably from the top of the tower looking north :D

I - for one - Would love to see more, maybe - if you will you can load them in this topic about the O.T:
http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 3&hilit=OT
This is an interesting theme of the bunkerworld that we have not done much in yet :)
I have gathered some documents from the OT-archives at the Norwegian National Archives (NA) in Oslo - as requested by kstdk in another AHF-topic.

Note:
I might have cought a couple of files from another archive, so please ignore if you find something "irrelevant" here.
95% of the files are related to Norway, and probably not of great interest to many (?).
My focus for search of information are/has been on other topics, and the files you see here are just random stuff I came by when browsing through certain files of the archives, which I chose to take photos of (ie: Most are not complete, and should really be considered as examples of what you can find there).
There are some large files (it's a total of 1,65Gb in all)

EDIT: I had to switch from Dropbox to FileFactory - link to the files are in my next post (see page 3 of this topic)! Sorry for the inconvenience...

Here is a list of the content in the folder (the zip's are jpg's that I didn't bother to convert to pdf):
