Truppenübungsplatz Mourmelon
Re: Truppenübungsplatz Mourmelon
Hello,
In 1920-1940 years, the ALVF firing range of the units of 372e R.A.L.V.F (barracks in Châlons-sur-Marne) was in "Camp de Mourmelon".
In this "Camp de Mourmelon" were the "épis de Bouy" which were former ALVF "épis de tir" during the Great War.
In peace time, the firing of ALVF guns was made on "épis de Bouy" and the targets were in "Camp de Suippes", this camp is north-east to Mourmelon in the most important battle ground of Champagne during the Great War. The firing was possible up to 28.000 meters.
For the "Très Longue Portée" firing, the Champ de tir of Saint-Pierre-Quiberon was used up to 128.000 meters on the sea side of Britanny coast line.
Yours sincerely,
Guy François.
