Hi Jos,
Checked some photo's and it is mostly with the armored doors, not with gasdoors.
The big entrancedoors of 680, 612 etc also has that feature.

Re: Steel door Ra 148
Hi guys, most of the times i seen this pins was when the pin of the hinge has no wider part on the top. So the pin can not fall out of the hinge..
The one on jos' s pictures does have a wider part to prevent the pin from dropping trough, so it seems here it was done to prevent the.pin from crawling out..
So there are 2 types of pins, with wider ring, and straight ones.
There are also hollow examples for lubricating the hinge, and pins without this possibillity

Re: Steel door Ra 148
This is standard in the C.I. as far as I know:
because the armoured doors open outward and the hinges are exposed the hinge pins are secured with these lugs to prevent an attacker removing them with a hammer. Behind the door frame (inside the Bunker) pockets were left in the concrete and these lugs were fitted through the frame once the doors were in place; a nut was then placed on the (hidden) thread of the lug and locked with a split pin, so that even with a pipe wrench on the lug it cannot be unscrewed. To disassemble the hinge it is necessary to dig out the cement infill, remove the split pin, undo the nut and finally remove the lug.
These types of hinges all had a grease nipple and an internal channel for the grease. IIRC the hinges are very slightly eliptical internally to allow the grease to spread.
