Hi Moony,
Do not have another idea, the square spaces could be for Würfgeräte because these are the only square things with about a size that can fit in.
Most of the time the Würfgeräte were put in to use in groups.
But RaG could also be an option, these do not need much space and were also used in groups, but these are more Kriegsmarine related.
