Looking for a published WW2 photo inside a 604!
Hi all,
I have seen a series of wartime photos taken in and outside a Type 604 housing a 7.5cm FK 16 at Wn. Vill02 at Deauville Plage (France). I did have a book showing these photos which I have since sold!
It is the photo showing the ammo room full of crates and a soldier polishing a round resting on the table that I am looking for.
Can anyone help?
Regards,
Malcolm

This is a widespread PK photo. The German controlled Dutch newspapers ran an article on the Atlantikwall showing this picture among others.

Thank you!
This one is fine
I wanted to see how the crates were stacked and it looks like they were placed on their side so the lid would drop down and the ammo could be removed easily. Plus the crates could be easily stacked up high empty then re-loaded as the weight would have been considerable for lifting it up if it was full!
Basically we are having a re-think how the ammo was stored in the Jaegerstand Type casemate for the 10.5cm K 331 (f) found in the Channel Islands. There were 2 ammunition rooms with the one nearest the gun used for the cartridges and this is know for sure as the marks left by them are often still visible on the walls. The 2nd room was for the shells and there is never any evidence (scratches etc.) of shells being stacked loosely.
The photos below (From top) show how we have the shells today in the restored north facing Jaegerstand at Stp. Corbiere, Jersey.
2nd photo shows the Type 670 at Stp. Nebelhorn (Fort Doyle), Guernsey where you can see the standard racks used in both 670's and Jaegerstand's for holding the cartridges. Visible behind the soldier holding the shell on the left can be seen what looks like the wooden French crates for holding shells and some loose shells standing on end can also just be made out.
3rd photo shows the field reinforced SK at Wn. Tunnel (Soldiers Bay), Guernsey with French shell crates visible both on the left and right foreground.
Regards,
Malcolm

This is a naval document about ammunition storage, looks they used rope or a other material between the rounds .

Not related to the question of Malcom. But I found the article it was published in. With credits to Propaganda Kompanie Müller.
