De Soubeyran à Derichebourg

En 1861, le baron de Soubeyran, député de la Vienne, acquiert les Lourdines. Le gisement, qui rassemble plusieurs zones d'extraction ouvertes successivement, se compose des sites de Château-Gaillard, de Batrelle, de la Pierre Levée, des Planteries de Belle Roche. En 1895, les carrières de Migné sont rachetées.
Lors de la 1ere guerre mondiale l'armée française s'en sert comme dépôt et fabrique de munitions. A partir des années 1920 et jusqu'en 1935, les galeries inexploitées accueillent des champignonnières. Cette production (jusqu'à 800 kilos par jour) s'acheva suite à la transmission d'une maladie par un insecte. Pendant la seconde guerre mondiale, l'armée allemande utilise les carrières comme lieu de stockage de munitions et de butins. Après la guerre, les salles souterraines sont transformées en entrepôt de matériel militaire jusqu'en 1989, avant d'être vendues, en 1990, à une société parisienne de garages et d'entrepôts (SOGEGE). Cette société est mise en liquidation judiciaire en 1996. Le site est à nouveau en vente. Faute d'acquéreur, la banque ayant financé la Sogege devient propriétaire. En 2007, Daniel Derichebourg rachète la majeure partie des carrières.

Where is it located excactly?

les Lourdines, Migné-les-Lourdines kept as ammunitions depot by the French Army Ordnance until 1989
near Poitiers, at 2500 meters north of Migné-Auxances
