White stripes meaning in mortars.

Somebody knows which is the meaning of these white stripes in the german mortars, I saw the same white stripes in some USMC mortars on a M113.

My 2 cents are it is for quicker and easier assembly of the mortar , please also note the horizontal lines .
and maybe the lines are fluorescent ?? Photo = Axis Forum

In another forum someone tell me that it was for using at night. I guess that it have sense.

Looks the white line is also placed on the plate of the mortar . ( NARA )

You'd see the white line in the dark, if you look the two horizontal lines are for locating the legs, the base also has a line to show the alignment. We used a similar principal on bridging equipment in the British Army
