Info on Flakbattery measures ??

Postby kstdk on 04 Jan 2005 22:52

Hello all

Does anyone have information, description, drawings etc. etc - on a German Heavy Flakbattery.

Schwere Flakbatterie - Feldmässig - consisting of 6 pcs. of 88 mm. Flak 36 / 37. I would like to know the distance between the guns, the places they were situated accordingly to each other - and as well what other "accesories" there were in such a battery.

I know that they were placed in a cirkel around the commandpost ( Feuerleitstand ) but in what distance.

Regards
Kurt

To what I know:
If you referr to an enforced structure (festungsmäßig): The distance of the gunemplacements are approx. 30m around the centerpoint, which was usualy the Leitstand with the Kommandogerät. But for camoflage puposes the emplacments were also located irregularly arround the Leitstand with distances variing upto 100m and more.

Assecories are:
Maschinenstand (powersupply)
2cm Flak30 or 38
Munitionsbunker
Werkstatt/ Schlosserei
Unterkunfts- und Versorgungsbarracken/ -bunker
Sometimes also RingTrichterhörer and or FuM Würzburg

I can recommend this old booklet:
Die Flakstellungen,
Kurt Grasser (Hrsg.), IBA- Sonderheft

Hello
Perhaps useful, perhaps not.
From Horst A. Koch "Flak"
Schwere Flakbatterie in Feuerstellung.
Befehlsstelle I: KdoGer 36, Me(s)trupp I etc. etc., 100 Meter seitlich von der feuerstellung.

markowca 3.jpg -shows an interesting example of Flak battery lacotad in Rumia (Rehmel) near Gdynia (Gotenhafen).
This one is in rather poor state... :(

Hello Andrew

Thanks for the drawings, thats right what i was looking for. Especially the one of the 88 batterieschema.

But - as it is shown in the drawing is ok, but, but - in this "fieldbattery" i need the distances between the guns and the other items in the battery, for instance is there 50 or 100 or 200 mtrs. between etc. etc. so that i can see how this battery was formed.

The batteries along the coastline of Poland is indeed very interesting, as are the positions in general over there, because there were so many test areas - where we do have some very special things, that constantly surprises us - right Andrew !!!

And to Jos - thanks a lot for your help as well, will get in contact with you by PM later. Because in KM Flakbatterien it is a different story, when talking of concrete reinforced positions - or flakbunkers - then we have some excellent drawings to refer to.

I have also got some help from others, send to my private mail - so it is getting closer to solve my "little problem" - but still missing some details - but dont we always ???

So everyone, if any has additional info it is still very welcome.

Regards
Kurt

Not sure if you have seen this Kurt........

http://www.atlantikwall-research-norway ... hwer-42389

The only heavy battery in Norway made 100% in "regelbau" style!
I know you were there this summer :-) But there wasn`t much left to see.......

Hello all

From a friend i have borrowed the book:

"Die Flakstellungen" - Sonderheft, Kurt Grasser

Very informative on the subject of Flak, and flak positions in concrete and in "feldmässige aufstellungen"

So i hope to get some of my questions answered by reading that book.

In the mean time, if any have additional info on the subject, please dont hesitate to join this discussion.

Kurt,
that is exactely the book I meant. If you have a chance to copy it, do it. I doubt, you will be able to find it on the market.
For sure many of your questions will be answered. Enjoy it.
