15 cm S.K.C/28 i. Dreh.L.C.34
Hello All
Who can help me with this problem , I know that the Kriegsmarine
used the medium caliber turrets of the Gneisenau in the Atlantik
Wall at the M.K.B. Zanddijk (Falga) , M.K.B. Graadyb (Gneisenau)
and M.K.B. Petsamo-Neu .
But now I found that there were also 2 batteries in the Deutsche Bucht
M.K.B. Lüderlitz at Borkum and M.K.B. Zenker at Sylt also were equipt with
the same turrets , are they also of the Gneisenau or from a other boat????
There is also a early drawing of a Marine bunker for the 15 cm S.K.C/28 i.
Dreh.L.C/34 is this the bunker used for the batteries at Borkum and Sylt ????
Everything may help , thanks in advance .
Regards Jos

Hello Jos
I can see out of my lists, that your informations on the two Batteries ( Sylt and Borkum ) are correct.
But i am unsure of the bunkertypes, though - they are not mentioned !!
Here is two pictures from Sylt ( the one "cut-out" is a bit blurred, but i could not get it better ), but maybe you can determine the bunkertype from this.
In my opinion it looks like the one mentioned.
I am searching for info on Borkum.
Regards
Kurt

I read something interesting about the 15cm guns of the gneisenau, this i just something i read:
Gneisenau hade 4 x 15cm twin turrets and 4 x 15 single turrets, twelwe guns in total.
2 turrets where sent to battery Zanddijk in Holland, but only one turret was installed. The other turret was stored at Huisduinen. The remaining 2 turrets where sent to battery Brommy (no the one outside Cherbourg, France) in Petsamo Finland. The remaining 4 single turrets where installed in open emplacements at a second battery in Petsamo. The guns att Fanö, where supposed to be guns from perhaps the Graf Spee.

Sounds like our website http://bunkersite.comRS 1800 wrote:I read it somwhere on the internet, on one of the more well known Atlantikwall sites, they had dedicated a whole section to the reusing of naval guns in the Atlantikwall, i'll try to find it for you.
Armour & Armament -> Guns
No info about Borkum though, maybe because they were planned before 1940/1941?
The bunker in Sylt looks like 632 indeed.
Hello
Yes - i know now that it is not the bunker in question, but that was infact the only picture i could find when i made a search for "bunkers - sylt" !!!
It is on a tourist site advertising for Sylt. Anyone else have some additional info and pictures from Sylt and Borkum, or "Deutsche Bucht" in General ??

The canadians found one of the turrets of Battr. Zanddijk in Huisduinen and we have found photo's of one turret being disassembelled by the Dutch (marine??) troops, on a German map of Battr. Zanddijk the battery is behelfsmassig fertig,
I also tought that the turrets of the M120 were not fitted (on the BRV drawing it is not drawn in it).
greetings Jack Koorneef

Hello
Im reading(struggle, as im not good in german) a article called "Auf der suche nach den lesten Zeugen des deutschen Schlachtschiffbau", written by Christian Wittwer, published in Schiff & Zeit/Panorama maritime 48.
Its mainly about the use of the gunturrets from ships on land.
Noticed the coment in this tread about Fanø.

According to the writer both turrets at Fanø came from Gneisenau, and if i have got it right, both was removed after the war from Fanø and put up again at Stevnsfort. The guns att Fanö, where supposed to be guns from perhaps the Graf Spee.
