Bonjour Festung St Malo,
The gun on your picture is a Pak 43/41 not a Pak 43/3.

Is this a Pak 43 with shield or just a movie prop? Taken from the DEFA movie "Ernst Thälmann - Führer seiner Klasse" (1955) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zrzcqTmw90 (about 1:57:29 in the movie)

Re: 8,8 cm Pak 43/3
More photos from the 8.8 Pak 43! They're from the same American report as the 687 in the other topic.
Funny to compare it with Manu's post: http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 5#p1524950
They moved the the Flak gun. Also the bunker im Bau in the back is a 703!

Hi Arthur,
Where did you get this report?
It is very interesting, two weeks ago i visited the last 703 that i missed in all these years (at Veenendaal the one that is sunken for a part).

Bought it on ebay including some other cool reports
Re: 8,8 cm Pak 43/3
One of the interesting details about the KwK 43/3 that were adapted for the West-Stellung PaK Front was that only a portion (about 160 guns of the 450 ordered) had the associated Jagdpanther mantlet. The rest of the guns minus the mantlets had issues with balance, so a 120 kg steel counterweight was developed that was issued with some the final 2.Serie guns on the Behelfslaffette, and retrofitted to some of the earlier guns mounted on the SK-L IIa Betonfundament. Here's a photo of one of the 2.Serie guns along with an inset close-up of the counter-weight. Both photos are from an Allied tech intel report.
