Hello

Thought it might be interesting:

According to Jos question about 2x105mm test gun:Batt. Lützow-found this photo on Ebay.
Title was on the back of the photo written by ink-so it might be almost for sure this battery.
Further info about this battery are welcome.

Hi

It may be a bit late, but the guns probably belongs to the battery "Lützow" which was emplaced at Skagen/DK in the summer of 1940.

The battery was equipped with four 8,8 cm Flak - "Doppeltflak" - from the "Lützow".

The guns were test fired on 26th June 1940. The dismantling of the guns started on 11th August 1940, and on the 15th the guns were sent by train to Kiel.

I forget to answer a part of the question above:

The name "Lützow" was the official name of the battery - it is found in different documents and KTB's. And from the documents it is totally clear that guns actually came from the "Lüztow".

For example:
Ost Gkdos. 20443/40 AII v. 19.4.40
Fernschrift an OKM
Dringend sofortige Entscheidung zu Antrag Ost Gkdos. 20301/40 v. 16.4. betr.

Best regards
Jens

Hi,
Another shot of a similar gun (the same ?) taken N - S. The battery was located on the small hill. I sometimes wonder if the reconstruction of the old "light house" is placed on top of one of the gun positions.

Hi,
Maybe Jens does. And BTW it was not a Flak battery, but a MKB, it was established to cover a gap in the minefield across the Kattegat. The gap extended from the Danish coastline and 10 km into the sea.

Hi Andrew

No, I am afraid that I don't have a plan of the battery or the positions as the battery was dismantled already in 1940, and the position was placed on the hill that housed the old "light house", so it was restored very thouroughly after the war.

The battery was termed: "Flak- und Sperrbattr. Skagen (Lützow)", so it was a dual purpose battery.
