M.K.B. Seebahnhof (Cherbourg)

Post by jopaerya » 12 Oct 2005, 13:15

Hello All

This is a photo of M.K.B. Seebahnhof , on the German list it should
be equipt with 4 x 7,5 cm Flak (f) , but on the foto there is a iron arche
above the gun not very easy for a Flak gun to fire strait up .
Who can help me with info on the gun ???

Foto = Atlantikwall from A.Chazette

Regards Jos

well Jos,
Couldnt it be that the Flakgun was used for the harbourdefense, this was a good gun for it, high muzzle velocity, quick firing and a flat line of fire (voor de nederlanders vlakbaanvuur) maybe the gun has had some modifications (offcourse a different lafette because most flak is mobile).

The Vickers 9.4 cm and 7.5 cm were also meant for Flak (I thought) but also used in M.K.B's in the Atlanticwall.

Greetings Jack

Hello @ndrew and Ducatim901

@ndrew you are right on the last photo the "devise" is
changed from position , so it a flakgun overall.

Ducatim901 you are right it was for harbour defence

Thanks for the photo Sebastien.

I was looking for that picture because it most clearly shows the entrance below the regular entrance.
Such a pity it was destroyed.
