Strikes me that I have seen this one before. You only showed the images of one pistol. Did Eva supposedly love the Edelweiss flower?

They both are very similar however the top pistol has EB on the right side is 22cal and the bottom pistol has the EB on the left side and is 7.65. The. Monogram is as found on her personal possessions. I don't know if some one took authentic guns and put her mark on them to increase their value. There are very minor differences in the engraving. Walter edelweiss factory engraving is a different style, so I question if either is factory engraved.

Oh, I see. If you don't mind, what is the serial number of the second pistol? The first pistol has is found listed at the end of a small group of Reichsbank .22 pistols on collector data bases. Though there is no mention of engraving. I was only aware of three basic styles of engraving offered by Walther: oakleaf, scroll and ornamental. The blued finish was removed, worn, ?

The serial number for the 7.65mm is 273656P. i have attached a photo of a factory engraved edelweiss Walther. Neither show any wear and appear to have been factory polished down to the bare metal.

The PPK above may be a factory provided engraved pistol, but it is not the edelweiss pattern of the two PPs shown earlier. The PPK is engraved in the ornamental pattern offered by the Walther factory and appears to have the original blue finish. The Walther factory was not known to allow bare metal finish guns to leave the factory. The PP in 7.65mm appears to be from 1943 production near the Bulgarian contract. The detail of the engraving lacks the quality of those local craftsmen employed by the Walther factory to provide engraving IMO.
