The gun is clearly a maxim based weapon.

Recognition point is the fusee spring typical of Maxims & Vickers

Off hand I would say it is a Soviet PV-1

Vz.30 ??
Probably posing with an incomplete MG 30 (t). Note receiver bottom contours etc. similarities with the assembly photo below and lack of ejector tube. Also the cartridges in the eBay shot look rimless to me which would fit a vz. 30.

Yes it appears to be. The crew look to be gebirgsjager showing the wear of the mountain jacket. Nice photo.

I have serious doubts that the soldiers in this photo are German. Look at their belts and the high collar on the man on the extreme left. In addition the pistol on the man firing appear to be a revolver in a low Cavalry style holster unlike any I have seen on a German. The uniforms look more like South Americans of the 1930 and 40s. Having said that the gun is a water cooled 50 Caliber Browning colt commercial M 52 model on an AA mount patterned on the us army M1 AA mount and probably designated M 74 by Colt when sold commercially. This would fit as Cuba and Argentina among others bought these between the Wars. In Europe the Dutch bought some also but the water cooled guns went to the Netherland East Indies and the French Purchases were, to my knowledge, only used on naval mounts unlike this one. The french version were chambered for the French 13.2 MM cartridge instead of the standard 50 caliber.

Hi ROLAND1369,

Obviously they are not German soldiers.... :) According to the photo caption, he would be the Cuban president Grau San Martin during an inspection....

Thank you very much for your help...ROLAND1369

American made Browning .50 Watercooled Model 52 Colt Commercial. Not lack of improved compound cocking handle

Interesting in that the gunner is using a US Model 1903 revolver cartridge belt
