Actually, I believe those are Yugoslav paratroopers from 63rd brigade, before they were issued with standard M70AB2. Truth is that many of our STG's ended in Syria and Africa.CHARLEMAGNE 4 wrote:Syrian (goverment) paratrooper, with StG 44

Yes photo is of JNA 63.brigade from Niš. And don't forget to add Iraq to recipients of yugoslav StG-44 recipients.botta wrote:Actually, I believe those are Yugoslav paratroopers from 63rd brigade, before they were issued with standard M70AB2. Re: STG-44's in Syria
From the video this was captured from an old Barracks belonging to the Syrian army in Aleppo where it stores old equipment including T-34 tanks that have been captured by the Syrian rebels. The whole region is awash with WWI and WWII equipment, if you remember the incident in 2003 when the Iraqi farmer "shot" down an Apache gunship it was with his interwar era "Brno" (vz. 24) rifle.
And the Paratroopers are not Syrian government paras, Syrian paras wear maroon berets, here is an old video (around 1980) of them during a graduation ceremony:

Its a long video full crappy propaganda slogans so when the announcer screams remember NK news readers .

Oh and by the way, the girls in the video are just for show since no Arab army has women in combat roles (except ISIS, go figure).
Re: STG-44's in Syria
That the guns are still around is not such a big surprise - but what about ammunition? I believe the Czechs and East Germans, possibly the Yugoslavs as well, produced the 7.92x33 mm round, but probably not beyond 1960 or so.
Any evidence that those Syrian rebels are actually shooting those guns, as opposed to just waving them in the air?

Ammunition factories in Syria and Iraq produced these rounds well into the 90s so they are widely available.

Re: STG-44's in Syria
Rebels in Syria had made small ''factories'' which producing mortars,''cannons'',rockets, modified weapons, ammo etc...
So its not difficult to make bullets for the StGs..
