Well I would bet it is a G43 - end of the stock is clearly visible - the magazine not so well - but definetly a G43

I agree. If it's the picture I'm thinking of, it's a pretty well known one, with similar ones of the same troops (Ardennes, Dec. 1944) taken from different angles.
