Index to the German Forces in the Field
Index to the German Forces in the Field
I search a copy of the "index to the German Forces in the Field". Two edition were issued, one in 1917 and one in 1918. There is also a Index about the foot artillery.
Please help.

Re: Index to the German Forces in the Field
I have seen the October 1917 edition. It is a great reference and much more useful than than the book it refers to. Unfortunately, original copies are very scarce and very brittle, which makes them impossible to copy without damaging the book.

mjölnir,
I am curious. How do you know about these books? I have never seen them mentioned anywhere. Most people have never heard of them.
Gruß,
Chip

I search for informations about the German divisions of World War I in the Net. Somewhere I found this source mentioned. Now I search a copy of these books.

There are many sources on-line. Try these...
http://wiki-de.genealogy.net/Militär/Fo ... Regimenter
http://users.hunterlink.net.au/~maampo/ ... index.html
http://www.1914-18.info/erster-weltkrie ... ivisionen-
That should keep you busy for a while!
Cheers!

I came across your post when researching some of my late grandfather's books. I have original copies of the following books:
1. Index to the German Forces in the Field. (Divisional Troops.) April, 1918
2. The Austro- Hungarian Forces in the Field (4th Edition) March 1918
3. Notes on German Shells May 1916
4. Vocabulary on German Military Terms and Abbreviations April 1917.
They are all in very good condition considering their age and I was wondering whether you would be interested in purchasing them?
This is my first post so I'm not sure if this is the correct way to contact you or whether this is permissible under forum rules.
My email is [email protected] if you would like me to send photos.
Best regards
Keith

The foot artillery index was digitized in 2010 by the University of California and is available through Hathi Trust - but only in the U.S. unfortunately:
