General d. Art. Friedrich v. Campe

This comes from an offizier of IR 43.

It looks like [GenLt Constantin] v. Altrock and [GenMj Friedrich] v. Campe to me. (v. Campe rose to the rank of Gen. d. Art. in RW).
I have v. Altrock's last command as Kdr. 56. ID but only had v. Campe as Kdr. of RW 6. ID in 1920.

The bearded general certainly looked like v. Altrock. Can anyone make out the last few words? Could there be a connection to IR 43 which was, I think, part of 1. ID late in the war?

Cheers
Elwyn

Many thanks Elwyn for posting the pic of von Campe - I've been looking for him for ages!!

Here is the little I have on him - place of birth and death, promotion dates and awards would be very much appreciated:

CHAR. GENERAL DER ARTILLERIE
Born: 24 April 1858
Died: 5 March 1938

1914 - : Kdr. 14. Feldartillerie-Brigade
12 Feb 1919 - 1 May 1919: Kdr. 14. Infanterie-Division
1 May 1919 - Oct 1919: Kdr. 31. Reichswehr-Brigade
27 Apr 1920 - 12 Jul 1920: Kdr. 7. Reichswehr-Brigade
12 Jul 1920 - 30 Sep 1920: Befehlshaber Wehrkreiskommando VI

very best regards,

Valdis

Hi Valdis,

I have been looking for him for years too! :P :P

As Dieter would say, a direct hit!!

14 FA-Brig. was part of 14. ID during most of WW1. And the Kdr. of 14. ID ( and v. Campe succeeeded him) was none other than v. Altrock 25.05.15 - 30.12.15.

Cheers
Elwyn
