Hptm Pohle IR 161

Postby Söderbaum on 25 Apr 2012 14:42

Hi all

I am searching the first name and possible date and place of birth for Hptm Pohle.
Originally from IR 161. I have his promotions.
During the later part of the War he joined the Fliegertruppe.

Any hints are welcome

:)

From the WW1 Verlustlisten, I have a Hptm. Richard Pohle, born 16 May 1881 in Gut Croustillier, Landkreis Königsberg (Neumark), injured in an accident. Age seems about right, but they stopped listing casualties by unit around December 1916. Glenn, any idea if there were any other captains by that name?

Also, Pohle wasn't originally from IR 161. He was commissioned into IR 140, and transferred to IR 161 on 18 October 1910.

Interesting Dave

Does the Verlust-Liste gives an approximate for the wounding.? What I have seen of these lists that they in some cases are registrated long after the actual accident.
I doubt it was an flying accident, but maybe..

Several officers joined the Fliegertruppe after being wounded on ground.

And thanks for added info.

The Verlust-Liste was Prussian List Nr. 807, published on 13 April 1917.

Also, he was earlier wounded as an Oberleutnant in 6./IR 161 at Souain on 19 September 1914. Unfortunately, those early casualty lists often didn't include first names or places of birth.

Dave,

Glenn, any idea if there were any other captains by that name?

There was a Hauptmann Ernst Pohle in Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 23 and Hauptmann d.R. Rudolf Pohle in Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 88. I am not aware of any other Richard Pohles.
