Hptm dR Heyer IR 165

Postby Söderbaum on 19 Aug 2012 14:53

Hi

This German Army officer served nearly the entire War within the Marine Air Force.
Promoted Oblt dR 22.03.15. Probably promoted Hptm dR 22.03.18 but I dont have acess to the MWB to check that :(
Received the BeoAbz 23.10.15 and EK I 16.01.18

Anyone who have first name for Hptm dR Heyer from IR 165..?
I am also searching possible date and place of birth.

He probably have a connection to the Hamburg area and he rather certain received the Hamburger Hanseaten Kreuz.

:?

I came across the thread from 2005, and had a look at some of the Hamburg city directory from period:

The company was named George Heyer & Co. and the address was Bernhardstr. 17/25.

c. 1910 until 1914 the owners were George Heyer and H. M. Rob. Heyer, and they resided on Parkallee (51 and 49 respectively)

In the 1917 directory George has been replaced by J. G. Heyer.

In 1922 the company is owner by J. G., H. M. Rob., and Otto Heyer, Hamburg, and Dr.-Ing. G. O. Heyer, Wandsbek. The latter two also own Heyer & Heyer (Bernhardstr. 19)

In 1929 the company is owned by Otto Heyer, Hamburg, and Dr.-Ing. G. O. Heyer, Wandsbek. Otto resides at Hochallee 108. There is no J. G. Heyer in Hamburg, but H. M. Rob. still resides at Parkallee 49.

Great info Ken

And a good hint to maybe solve this man..:)

I knew that Hptm dR x Heyer was living in Hamburg as Kaufmann in 1911.

Otto is probably the "higher" Marine officer Otto Heyer and might be an elder brother or an relative.
George and H.M Rob. Heyer are maybe an earlier generation.

As J.G replaced George 1917 he is probably not my man as the War was in full process..

Dr.Ing. G.O. Heyer seems the most possible candidate at moment as he show up after the War, however
it dont fit with that he was a kaufmann..;)

So I have something to think of..!

Wonder who this could be? Another family member?

Hi Ken

He is a possible candidate as he was born in Hamburg. What speaks against him is his age and his rank during WW2.
Most of the Reserve officers in the War I have seen did also serve later as Reserve during WW2.

My wanted Hptm dR Heyer did become Lt on 18.10.08. The new Otto was 24 Years old at this date, so unlikely him but not impossible. :?
I think a I have one flyer and Hptm dR who became Lt at an age of 25, but this was probably unusual ..

Gunnar,

24 years old was certainly not unusual and in fact about normal for the age of a commission to Lt. d.R. in peacetime. Many Reserve and Landwehr officers were commissioned even later after completing their professional studies, their one year service and then two annual periods of reserve training.

Regards
