Kmdr IR 411

#1

This is from their regimenatl history. I think it said ObstLt Platz Kommandeur IR 411 Oktober 1916 bis August 1918.

I get lost quite quickly when it comes to post 08.14 regiments. The man was sporting a komtur class Schaumburg Lippe Hausorden or Lippe Detmold Hausorden Ehrnekreuz?

There were a few Platz's in the 1926 ehrenrangliste. But could this man be later RW GenMj Paul Platz (IR 117)? he sure looks like the Kabisch pic of Paul Platz.

Elwyn,

I think more likely Franz Platz formerly of IR 158. He took command of IR 55 in September 1918. Makes sense if he relinquished command of IR 411 in August 1918. He also had the LDH2X whereas Paul Platz did not.

Regards
Glenn

Thank you both. Mj Franz( Hermann?) Platz was Stab IR 158 with LDH4. Then IR 411. Then IR 55 a Detmold outfit with three Fürsten z Lippe as Chef.

I found Wegner made a mistake. Adding to the confusion, Wegner named Paul as Kmdr of IR 55 before taking command of IR 117.

Cheers
Elwyn

Hi Elwyn,

I noted the Wegner error also. The only Platz with an LDH2X was Franz, awarded 10 November 1918. This from the Offizier-Stammliste of IR 158 from 1912.

Glenn

His name was actually Johannes Franz Daniel. Secondary sources often move the Rufname to first place for convenience. But that is how he wrote his own name when he received the LKEK.

Decorations, in case anyone is interested:

Preußen: Roter-Adlerorden 4.Kl.
Preußen: Kgl. Hausorden von Hohenzollern, Ritterkreuz mit Schwertern
Preußen: Eisernes Kreuz 1. u. 2.Kl.
Preußen: Dienstauszeichnungskreuz
Preußen: Centenarmedaille
Lippe-Detmold: Hausorden des Ehrenkreuzes, Ehrenkreuz 2.Kl. mit Schwertern
Lippe-Detmold: Hausorden des Ehrenkreuzes, Ehrenkreuz 4.Kl., 1.Abt.
Lippe-Detmold: Kriegsehrenkreuz für heldenmütige Tat
Lippe-Detmold: Kriegsverdienstkreuz
Oldenburg: Friedrich August-Kreuz 1. u. 2.Kl.
