GLzD v. Platen, stellv. 6.IB

Hi all,

I have found an error in one source, but I don't know which one.

Wegner's Stellenbesetzung der deutschen Heeres says that the commander of the stellv. 6.Infanterie-Brigade was Benno v. Platen (1846-1926). However, the Ehrenrangliste says the commander of the stellv. 6.Infanterie-Brigade in Stettin was the former commander of the 16.Kavallerie-Brigade, which was not Benno, but rather Erich v. Platen (1849-1927), GLzD and Herr auf Reischwitz bei Bergen auf Rügen.

Any idea which one is correct?

Also, the Ehrenrangliste only has one General v. Platen. Does that mean that not only did one of the two above not get called up during the war, but also the younger of three living generals, Julius v. Platen (1853-1922)? Maybe health was an issue, but that seems odd since Julius was also the one most recently on active duty.

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,

Wegner of course as you said put Erich as stellvetreter 3 Inf Brig and Benno stellveterter 6 Inf Brig. Now we have new 13 volumes of Zweng based on unpublished materials from Priesdorff. Zweng also put down Erich for 3 Inf Brig. So it was Zweng/Wegner versus the Ehrenrangliste.

As to Juliius, Zweng also had his alst entry as zD gestellt 22.04.12. So perhaps no recall.

Cheers
Elwyn
