[Paul von Hindenburg] - (1847 - 1934)
Hi gentlemen!
May I start another thread regarding an old Field Marschal? I´m interested in good pics of the German Supreme Commander 1925-1934, Paul von Beneckendorff und von Hindenburg.
I can only offer one good pic.
Many thanks in advance!

All from http://pro.corbis.com
Anyone know where this might be? The caption at Corbis is not helpful at all. He appears to be inspecting a ship somewhere, but that's all I can tell from it.
Caption: Field Marshal General Paul von Hindenburg presents Iron Crosses to soldiers of the Third Guard Regiment.
Caption: Adolf Hitler, shakes hands with Paul Von Hindenburg, President of the German Reich, after being appointed to the Chancellorship.
(Also notice Goering in the background)
Caption:Paul von Hindenburg, the president of the Weimar Republic, lies on his death bed while two soldiers stand guard nearby.
Anyone know what the two paintings are in the background? Paintings of Frederick the Great?
Those are just some of the pictures, for more just go to http://pro.corbis.com and search for Hindenburg. But remember they do have watermarks on them unless you pay to use them.

Paul von Hindenburg
Just finished Emil Ludwig's 1935 biography of Hindenburg in which he is quite critical of him regarding his decisions during WWI (especially the submarine warfare), his untimely call for the armistace, the way he handled the Kaiser's departure, and the manner in which Hitler was allowed to gain the chancellorship despite his power being in decline at the moment. Hindenburg comes off as a rather plodding, uninspiring blockhead who in the end betrayed his Emperor to an extent, abrogated the new constitution, did not hesitate to grab power for himself when he felt it necessary either in WWI or after, and let Hitler in out of fear of the communists and losing face with the Junker class. Any thoughts?
I'm not sure but from what I can see from the countryside it could be in Stettin(Szczecin)Gwynn Compton wrote:All from http://pro.corbis.com
