Hi, FANGIO. The reason some of the Corbis links no longer work is because they recently reformated their system and assigned new links to the images.

Here are a few more pics of Hindenburg. These are from http://www.dhm.de/

Well done Orok!
I think it's one of the best pictures I've seen. Can anybody ID the 3rd officer? Is he an artillery officer, I mean because of the helmet (round point).
Best regards.

Hi Robert.

From lef to right:
1-Mackensen
2-Ludendorff (unknown man behind him)
3-?????? - Who is this Officer?
4-unknown woman
5-Hindenburg
6-unknown woman
7-Seeckt

I want to know who is this officer and if he's from artillery. Didn't artillery officers use a round point helmet?
Best regards.

I am sure FANGIO is referring to the officer with the rounded tip helmet (as opposed to the pointed spike), standing to the right of Ludendorf in the image.

The rounded "ball" point helmet, or "Kugelhelm" was often worn by artillery men, so I assume you are right: he is an artillery officer:

FANGIO,

Judging from the rank of the other officers present, why don't you start from the then Inspector General of Artillery, whoever he is?

Best Regards!

Hi Orok!

That's a great poster of Hindenburg! Thanks for posting it.

Judging from von Hindenburg's, von Mackensen's and von Seeckt's ages in the photo, I would hazard a guess that it was taken post-war, and that the artillery officer is a retired WWI General, not in active service.

Below is a list of all Generale der Artillerie from WWI:

General der Artillerie Karl BANSI
General der Artillerie Ludwig, Herzog von BAYERN
General der Artillerie Friedrich BORCKENHAGEN
General der Artillerie Otto von BÜCKING
General der Artillerie Hermann Ritter von BURCKHARDT
General der Artillerie Friedrich Wilhelm Ferdinand von CAMPE
General der Artillerie Martin Ritter von DENK
General der Artillerie Adolf FRANKE
General der Artillerie Max von GALLWITZ
General der Artillerie Hans von GRONAU
General der Artillerie Otto Ritter von GYßLING
General der Artillerie Konstanz von HEINECCIUS
General der Artillerie Gustav von HEINRICH
General der Artillerie Maximilian Ritter von HÖHN
General der Artillerie Luitpold Freiherr von HORN
General der Artillerie Carl KEHRER
General der Artillerie Anton von KERSTING
General der Artillerie Konrad KRAFFT von Delmensingen
General der Artillerie Georg KUHN
General der Artillerie Viktor KÜHNE
General der Artillerie Karl Ritter von LANDMANN
General der Artillerie Alexander von LARISCH
General der Artillerie Ludwig von LAUTER
General der Artillerie Leo LIMBOURG
General der Artillerie Friedrich Ritter von LOBENHOFFER
General der Artillerie Georg von LOGAN
General der Artillerie August MADLUNG
General der Artillerie Johannes von MALACHOWSKI
General der Artillerie Walter PELKMANN
General der Artillerie Franz Graf von PFEIL und Klein Ellguth
General der Artillerie Maximilian von ROEHL
General der Artillerie Ernst Louis Wilhelm SACK
General der Artillerie Gustav SCANZONI von Lichtenfels
General der Artillerie Friedrich von SCHMIDT
General der Artillerie Friedrich von SCHOLTZ
General der Artillerie Hermann SCHUBERT
General der Artillerie Ludwig Ritter von SEITHER
General der Artillerie Heinrich SERNO
General der Artillerie Ludwig SIEGER
General der Artillerie Hermann von STEIN
General der Artillerie Hermann Freiherr von STEIN
General der Artillerie Heinrich STREMPEL
General der Artillerie Gerhard von TAPPEN
General der Artillerie Ulysses von TOGNARELLI
General der Artillerie Johann WALDHAUSEN
General der Artillerie Peter Freiherr von WIEDENMANN

I think that the old artillerist in the photo bears a resemblance to GdA Friedrich von Scholtz.

Regards,

AJK
