Bavarian uniform distinction
Bavarian uniform distinction
The Bavarian army retained several distinctions, including the light blue diamond pattern woven over pale grey lace (silver for officers). When was this introduced, I assume it to be pre-war distinction? I`d also like the receive details and if possible illustrations/photographs... I`ve seen illustrations of it worn on M1915 Bluse, but did it also appear on M1907/10 or M1910 Feldrock. I`m trying to illustrate a soldier of 8. Bayerisch Infanterie Regiment... What other uniform distinctions Bavarians had? Was there differences between for example shoulder straps?

Kennzeichenborte
Landsturm,
the Bayerische Kennzeichenborte was introduced by Royal Order dated the 31.03.1916 and actually issued to the troops in late 1916. It was designed for the M15 (in Bavaria called the M16) pattern field and peacetime uniforms including the officers' Kleiner Rock.

Hi,

Basically that is correct. A member of B.I.R. 8 would have looked the same as his collegues in the Prussian infantry. For that particular regiment bright red shoulder strap piping and the number 8 on the shoulder strap. So bavarian uniform in 1914 or early 1915 wouldn`t have these distinctions... and didn`t differ from those of other infantry uniforms?
