Pour le mérite holders

#1

I would like to complete my list about the Pour le mérite holders. Perhaps anybody can help with some dates.

I would like to start with Paul von Hindenburg. It is funny, but I do not have the exact date when he was awarded with the Pour le merite.

Hi Ingo!

According to this site, Hindenburg received the Pour le Merite on 1 November 1914.

http://www.deutsche-kriegsgeschichte.de/hindenbu.html

He was the 3rd man to receive the award in WWI.

Regards,

VJK

Yes, Hindenburg was the 3rd who received this award. The 4th was Hans von Zwehl, he became the Pour le merite on 8.9.1914 !!

So the date on your link must be wrong. The correct date must be between 22.8.1914 and 8.9.1914. And untill today I can´t find it.

Also the date for his Eichenlaub is not correct. I have on my list 23.2.1915.

I have completed my list now with help of http://www.pourlemerite.org

But I have now 683 names and not 687. I have coordinated my list with the link twice, without any succes.

For the year 1916 I have only 82 names and not 86.

Perhaps anybody has these 86 names and we can coordinate this.

The next is Hans von Zwehl

Born: 1851
Died: 1926

Has anyone the correct dates?

Or has anyone a better pic of him?

Hello VJK,

many thanks. The dates for PLM are known to me. Now I only need the correct date when he was born.

The next where I have not the correct dates is General der Infanterie Bruno von Mudra.

All I know is:

Born: 1851
Died: 22.11.1931

Also his dates for PLM are known to me.
