Just pure luck it was on gunbroker. Their were no pictures of any unit marks so I asked the seller if their were any and he emailed me back telling me what was on it. I took a chance and bought it for around $400 without seeing any pictures of the marks This is only the 3rd Ostasiatische marked weapon I have come across.

That was a gamble worth taking!

What are the markings exactly? I can only read "O A ? M K 1 143R.9.5"....

Ostasiatisches Field-Artillerie Regiment Batterie 1 Muntionskolonne 1. Also is a infantry regiment unit mark for the 143rd which was part of the 30 J.D. They were involed in all the major battles on the western front during WWI.

Thanks for explaining those markings...

You probably know what I'm going to ask.... would you mind if I added these photos to the website at www.germancolonialuniforms.co.uk ? We don't have any pistols up there yet, let alone one with such unique markings.

Cheers

I recently came across several Reich's Revolvers as you can see from the attached photos.

From what I've been told about the markings they are model 1879 and 1883s.

20.A.6.15 means 20. field artillery regiment 6. battery revolver no. 20
This regiment was part of the V. German Army Corps and was stationed in Posen.

1.G.A.r.3.68 means First guard field artillery regiment 3. mounted battery revolver no. 68.
This regiment was part of the guard corps and was stationed in Berlin.

:welcome:

Welcome to the forum. I would guess that could be Guard Artillery... but it is only a guess, try asking the more educated people in the Imperial Germany section- http://forum.axishistory.com/viewforum.php?f=72

Hello!
Here are the artillery units in East-Asia.
Ostasiatisches Feldartillerie-Regiment
Leichte Munitionskolonne
Leichte Feldhaubitz-Munitionskolonne
Ostasiatisches Bataillon schwerer Artillerie
Munitionskolonnen-Abteilung
Inf.Mun.Kol.Nr.1
Inf.Mun.Kol.Nr.2
Art.Mun.Kol.Nr.1
Art.Mun.Kol.Nr.2
Feldhaubitz-Mun.Kol.
schwere Art.Mun.Kol.Nr.1
schwre Art.Mun.Kol.Nr.2

Because we read OA l MK 1, I think it´s the Art.Mun.Kol.Nr.1, the Leichte Mun.Kol. OR the Inf.Mun.Kol.Nr.1 (If the l is an I for infantry)

Very good point. I agree on the Munitions Kolonne. I think the OA is for artillery. Infantry had the unit marking OR on their weapons usually it seems-
