Masha Bruskina

Hello! I am a newby and present myself, my name is Carlo from Italy, I love history and german history the most.
Masha Bruskina and the other two partisan merciless were hanged by nazis in Minsk.
Masha was only 17 years old and the other partisan hanged with her, a young male, only 16.
There are plenty of shocking pictures of the hanging in the web.
They clearly show a middle aged nazi, he looks as a graduate or so.... getting the rope around the neck of both the teenagers.
I cant say how much I hate him after more then 60 years from the deeds.
Any of you know if he has ever been arrested and hanged?
Thanks
Carlo

I think, you mean the foto, shown at this page:
http://www.geocities.com/epjacobs4/masha.htm

There is written on german:

"Als Henker fungierten Offiziere und Soldaten der 707. Infanteriedivision unter Gustav Freiherr von Bechtolsheim . Dieser Berufsoffizier , ein fanatischer Antisemit , der nach dem Krieg unbehelligt blieb und 1969 in Münster starb , hat in Weissrussland eine Blutspur hinterlassen . Bis zum Dezember 1941 brachten Soldaten und auch Polizisten unter Bechtolsheims Kommando 19 000 Menschen um, die meisten davon Juden
"
With other words, the commanding officer died in 1969 in Münster/Germany without a penalty.

Hey there, yea that german officer evokes ferocious hatred from me as well. The only information i have found on the guy noosin the three russians including masha has always said the same thing, that he was a major and unfortunately he survived the war and died of old age in the late 60's in the german town of munster. The sources I have read have all been blogs so I dont know for sure how reliable they are since I have never gotten a name on the guy so hopefully its not true and that maybe he got roasted by some infantrymans flamethrower

Two obviously mentally ill persons. Let's hope they can receive appropriate treatment.

A barbaric event indeed. Very haunting photos. Anyone unmoved by them - would be the person in need of appropriate treatment.

Bruskina never became an icon of resistance in eastern Europe like Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya, on account of her Jewish origin.

They were not Russians or partisans. They were Belorussians and just teenagers helping wounded soldiers but the Germans hanged the sign on Masha saying she had killed soldiers, which was obviously untrue.

The sign that they hung around her neck does not say that she had killed anyone, only that they were partisans shooting at the German soldiers. It is worded in both German and Russian.

Regardless of one's origin, it seems that certain people are remembered and others fall into obscurity, even though they were executed for the same cause. A good example here is Hans and Sophie Scholl who were executed for writing and distributing leaflets against Hitler and denouncing the Nazi party. Today they are well known all over Germany and hundreds of schools and streets are named after them. On the other hand, Otto and Elise Hampel, who were also executed for distributing anti Nazi handwritten postcards, are virtually unknown.
