I don't want to write much here, I just post links to some Photos in Austrian Papers - some are "readers phots", so likely not published before; unfortunately I was not able to find again the gallery of the Vienna "Tramway" (light rail) and it's role - very interesting photos they were

"most casualties were noncombatants" - the photo is symptomatic - artillerie was and stays an area weapon

the Austrian workers were the only ones besides the Spanish, who took up arms against fascism before the war- but at the point when they did,they were left alone by their leadership and the structures of the socialdemocratic party militia "Schutzbund" had already been severly compromised by the security forces. The fight was hopeless from the beginning.
