I try with Rudolf Lüters, negotiated with Tito's partisans the release of major Strecker and the recognition of the Tito's partisan movement as belligerent power with a possible alliance against the Chetniks.
You're close, but it's not Lueters-good old German officer that he was, he immediately washed his hands from this matter by saying that non-military topics were outside his jurisdiction. A hint: the gent on the photo served as a minister before the war.

Cheers,

Gaius
I didn't think to Edmund Glaise von Horstenau. However the episode was very popular and much debated.

You're right, it is Edmund Glaise-Horstenau, the German Plenipotentiary General in Zagreb 1941-1944:

Received the gold military medal (to the memory) because he was a military chaplain, blessed the firing squad that was going to kill him. The film, that was filmed in 1945, is part of a war trilogy made by the same director: the first movie (the target) is about the resistance, the second narrated 6 episodes during the war in Italy, the third is about the post war devastated Germany. The film is one of the posters of a new cultural movement born in Italy in that period, expression of a completely different way from the past in shooting the movies.

All takes place in Rome, the person in question was arrested by the Gestapo and imprisoned in Regina Coeli (the prison of Rome). Was shot in April 3, 1944.

Which two prominent motor racing drivers of the late 20's and early 30's were members of the French Resistance?

As there have been no guesses for two days, here are some clues:

One driver was English, the other French. They both drove Bugattis, and they both won the French Grand Prix.

Here are the answers to the quiz:

Robert Benoist, who was executed in Buchenwald on the 11th of September 1944:

William Grover-Williams, who was executed at Sachsenhausen in February/March 1945:

The floor is open for someone else to post a question.
