Identifying a POW Italian officer

Postby ShaunSmillie on 13 Sep 2012 22:43

My name is Shaun Smillie, I trying to identify an Italian officer who my grandfather took prisoner in the Western Desert during World War Two. My grandfather William Findlay Smillie was a member of the Long Range Desert Group and took a packet of photographs of the Italian, which I have.
All I know is that the officer was high ranking.
Unfortunately there is no name on the pictures, although a military historian who has been helping me believes from his insignia that he was commissioned into the Italian First Divisional artillery regiment which was part of the 22 Infantry Division. It appears that he attended the la scuola di applicazione in Turin, which at the time was an artillery school. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
This was either May for June 1933. I am recording my search on my blog @ www.shaunsmillie.com.

Hi,

probabily he was an Officer from Artillery and Engineer Military Academy in Turin. On 1933 there were 107th and 108th Courses at Academy.
Is it possible have a scanning of the back of Photos?
Where and when was this Officer captured?

Cheers
