GREETINGS. THIS IS GOING TO BE A TOUGH ONE FOR ME AS I'M DOING A BIOGRAPHY ON A MAN RELATED TO LUIGI DRAGO. WHAT I NEED IS ANY BACK GROUND ON THIS ITALIAN FROM NERVI, ITALY.

FROM WRITTEN DOCUMENTS I'VE LOOKED THRU, LUIGI DRAGO ,NATIVE OF GENOA, WAS AT ONE TIME A SURGEON, THEN MAYOR OF NERVI, ITALY IN THE TWENTIES/THIRTIES. THEN HE WAS ITALIAN CONSUL GENERAL IN BORDEAUX, FRANCE 1936-1943. HE WAS MARRIED TO ELVIRA GOEDRICH (ERLANGER-DIVORCED) SOMETIME IN THE TWENTIES OR EARLY THIRTIES IN GENOA/NERVI. THIS WOMAN AND HER SON , ALEXI ERLANGER, HAD ESCAPED THE RUSSIAN REVOLUTION IN 1921 AND WENT TO GENOA ITALY, THUS EVENTUALLY BECOMING RELATED TO LUIGI DRAGO BY MARRIAGE...WHEN ?

LUIGI DRAGO RECEIVED THE TITLE OF "COMMENDADOR COMTUR OF THE ITALIAN CROWN", WHATEVER THAT IS ?

I HAVE PICTURES OF HIS FUNERAL,(NOT DATED) WHICH I ASSUME TOOK PLACE IN BORDEAUX WITH MANY GERMAN OFFICERS OF THE WEHRMACHT AND KRIEGSMARINE AS WELL AS A DETACHMENT OF ITALIAN SOLDIERS I ASSUME BELONG TO THE CONSULATE. HE MUST HAVE BEEN IMPORTANT AS THE PROCESSION IS FULL OF MILITARY OFFICERS.

I'VE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE MAYORS OFFICE IN GENOA, BUT HAVE HEARD NOTHING. WOULD LIKE TO FIND CAUSE OF DEATH, WHEN BORN, WHEN DECEASED, DATE OF THIS FUNERAL, WHERE THIS CATHEDRAL IS LOCATED AND NAME.

AM LOADING THE PICS IN THE COMPUTER AND WILL POST SOON, SO IF ANYONE CAN WORK FROM THE INFO PROVIDED
UNTIL THE PICS GO ON, WOULD BE MOST APPRECIATED.

THANX IN ADVANCE.

MAYBE DAVIDE PASTORE OR LUIGI ON THIS FORUM COULD FIND OUT FROM THE MAYORS OFFICE IN GENOA AS LUIGI DRAGO WAS A NATIVE OF GENOA, A SURGEON, AND MAYOR OF NERVI AROUND THE 1920-1935 AREA. I HAVE CONTACTED THE MAYORS OFFICE WITH NO REPLY.

here's a website a friend made for me to show alexi erlanger's family history. scroll thru the pics and you will find the pics of luigi drago and his funeral in 1943, bordeaux. and info on drago's background much appreciated as alexi did not mention much in his belongings that i own. the pics i have of the funeral and the foto in the above post seem from the same original source.

BTW...this site has a few boo boos and is under re-construction so bear with it !!!

Thank u so much for sharing your photos !

>> Concerning the photo i put on this website above is taken from "Bordeaux city Archivs" and it is known as "Luigi Mami, officer of OVRA, killed rue Lacomée in Bordeaux by a member of FTP group "Bourgeois" on august 24th of 1943. Funerals took place on 27th where the convoy leave from italian consulat, 84 rue de la croix blanche to Saint Seurin Cathedral .... In this case, he was certainly buried in the "Chartreuse" cemetery ....
Is Luigi Mami the same guy as Luigi Drago ??

many thanx for your help. the pics are great ! the funeral belongs to luigi drago, and in the last funeral pic on my site, you can see alexi erlanger and his mother elvira behind the man with the awards pillow, whom had married luigi back in nervi/genoa, italy in the late '20's early '30's...still trying to find marriage info not forthcoming easily from italy. your pics are of great insite. can you make a luigi thread on the bordeaux site and add the pics ?

what is ovra and ftp ???

Thursday 19 August 1943: The sub-officer of the OVRA (Italian secret police) Luigi Mami is murdered in front of his home at 37 rue Lacornée around 23H00. At the time of the curfew two cyclists Guisto Carione and Lavergnoni leave the scene of crime by the street Mouneyra in direction of the boulevards. Brigade Poinsot will arrest them in September.

Best regards

Hi. I'm resurrecting this thread because I'm a descendent of Luigi Drago, and I'm interested in finding information.

Thanks,
JM
