Hitler´s favourite unit?

Hi,
I hope there is no already a topic about this, but.... What do you think was Hitler´s favourite unit (WH, SS, LW, KM etc). One surely was LSSAH, exept at very last, when he feeled that he was betrayded and ask to return the cufftitles.

I think hands down it was the SS. They were the most fanatical of his soldiers, so it makes sense he liked them better.

I highly doubt that the question can really be answered as there were too many vriabless. Remember that there were units in the army that carried his title and were equal on many ways in thier fanatasism and loyalty. Further not all SS units were fanatical or loyal as others. In fact near the end of the war he stripped cuff titles and honors due to his anger against some of the SS units failures.

I always thought Hitlers favorite unit was the "Hermann Göring" Division or any of the Hitler Youth Brigades...

Why would the Hermann Göring division be his favorite, they were pretty much formed to appease Hermann and give him his own unit with his name as the division title. They were really nothing special and if they were mentioned in any documents as a favourite it would have been Hitlers flavor of the month.

Why would the Hitler youth brigade be a favourite as well. They only became needed in the last 4 to 5 months and they only gained favor in the last few months due to a last resort. Hitler only made a few minor staments about the Hitler Youth out of desperation in a surrounded city.

No doubt,it was the Leibstandarte,as stated in a documentary of "Die Deutsche Wohensau".
"Because the Unit bears my name," said supercilious Hitler,after a lunch with their main leaders and troops.

It is obvious that the 1SS had a responsiblity protect Hitler and held his name in their title but the answer is more complicated. It is like asking what was his favourite wine ... or flower.

Didnt the Leibstandarte have its cuffs taken away with the Hitler name on ??? or did they put them in a bucket ??? Hitler had favourites as long as they performed to his tune and results went his way, in reality the man had no favourites they were simply tools to be used to achieve what he wished............(although he showed marked deference towards the SS units as they were ideologically closer to his image of the Aryan fighting man )....

Indeed, As was stated above he did strip the cuff titles, favourite is too subjective to really be answered in this case.

The order was rather useless as they had already had taken their cuffs away for reasons of hiding the presence of the LAH in Hungary. Hitler certainly had a preference for the LAH and was simply disappointed for it wanting to retreat which was the 'no' word for him. Disinformation by general Balck also played a role.
