An officer of the Wehrmacht, asleep after questioning by the NKVD. He was captured by russian scouts of the 49th Guards Rifle Division...

Serious and stressed faces. I quote the original description of the photo: "After being besieged for ten days at Rethimnon, several grimly paratroopers greet the commander in chief, General Kurt Student. Of the 1500 men in his assault group, about 1300 were died, wounded or captured. "
