Re: Wehrmacht Medical Care in Photos and Documents
The following book had passing mention in at least one other thread. But as a related sourcebook it seems worth mentioning here, because it has not been described in detail. Should this post be moved to a Recommended Reading thread?
There is detailed explanation of medical field equipment, organization, training, and establishments, although mainly in text and not tables, charts or associated photos. Most of the rest of the text is good overviews of the Army's medical situations at given times and places. These are followed by accounts or memoirs of particular medics, doctors, and nurses in action. Statistics are also given, along with a bibliography of German sources.
The last 64 pages are assorted photos of casualty treatment in the Heer. They are set in all fronts, and different stages of evacuation and treatment.

It looks like a good introduction to its subject, authored by a thrice-wounded veteran of the same. He acknowledges gaps in its general coverage only of the Army, but includes some material about Sani duty with the Fallschirmjäger as fellow ground troops.

Thanks for sharing a source! The book sounds very informative, and I'm going to order it at the local library.
George,
Thank you for posting pictures with interesting details like the inside of a mobile clinic with the nurses. I also find it notable that your last hospital photo shows a window covered with a blackout material (black paper? dark fabric?)

George,
Those are interesting pictures. Were they taken in Africa (if to judge by the uniforms)? Thanks!

George,
Thanks for interesting hospital photos! The bathroom picture is remarkable - I wonder if it was set up for regular bathing of patients or for balneotherapy.
