Some information on Wehrmacht needed?

Hello everyone,

I am writing a story about a young German officer who is sent to Belgium in 1941 to fight war. But I know almost nothing about military as I am a girl. Could anyone guide me on how should I begin my research on Wehrmacht, the ranks of officers, how did they fight and how did they lived in their controlled areas? I would also like to know if they were given some houses of the local people to live in. And did the army contributed any part in holocaust. What did the Wehrmacht do in elimination of jews in occupied areas such as Belgium? Where did the refugees go? Or did people preferred to live under their control? What difficulties were faced by these soldiers particularly in Belgium?

Without these facts I cannot write my story, online sources would be much preferred but you can recommend books too!
