The AHF Women's section quiz thread

#1

Post by Matt Gibbs » 08 Dec 2006, 21:40

Ok, the title of this thread is not the same as others, I am waiting Vikki to make it a sticky and call it official, as she moderates this area. But in the last few days there has been naff all posts in this section to enlighten or enthuse me, so here I am hoping to stimulate some brains working.
So, the first question:

What Frauenschaft rank was Gauleiter Josef Terbovens wife?

Correct answer gets to set the next question.

Regards
Matt Gibbs

Well,

Ilse Terboven was Gaufrauenschaftsführerin in the Gau Ost-Hannover but is this a rank or just an office she held?

The NSDAP used both systems (i.e. rank independent of office and rank coupled to office) occasionally. So far I've neve heard of specific Frauenschaft ranks.

Best regards
Torsten

Ilse Terboven, correct.

Lets be picky and say "Gau Leader" then, if no one objects to that. I am afraid I fell into the trap of assuming if there was only one of these per Gau then she was the senior "ranked" female in the Women's Org. of the Gau. ;) Is it an office or a leader rank? Methinks the title for another thread, and maybe one of our German members can do some digging into this. I have never really thought about it before. I guess going from Awards advertisments it is easy to fall into the trap when one sees the oakleaf border pins sold as NSF Rank badges. Oh how we do live and learn! :) Serves me right for believing someone doesn't it ;) At least it shows we can all learn from a quiz.

Your question Torsten!

Good luck

I'll take a crack at it with Beate Uhse (1919-2001)...an amazing lady!
I believe she is the one who later founded the famous German "Sex Shops" you see everywhere.

Bravo Matt,

it's indeed Melitta Countess Stauffenberg, sister-in-law of the Count Stauffenberg of bomb plot fame.

Your turn again.

Torsten - many thanks. I was lucky enough to have a photo and I must admit she was the only really famous other woman test pilot I could think of apart from H.R. ;)

Ok how about this:

Name of NSF Kreis Leader who's famous relative was a WW1 German Officer. This female family member [wife I believe] was a NSF Kreis Fuehrerin and party member [not calling it a rank this time ;) ] in the local Kreis of their family estate.

Clue. He was never defeated by opposing allied forces for the whole of the campaign he fought in!

Too hard? You'll get the surname with look at the chaps exploits I am sure, if no one posts by end of today I will give answer and try and easier question. This one is a cross over from my interest in WW1 exploits of the famous, and looking for female leaders of the NSF. Another clue, the "man of the house" so to speak was a reluctant Officer with Special Duties in the Heer Officer Reserve in WW2

Hello Matt,

I'll poke at a
Frau von Lettow-Vorbeck, Kreisfrauenschaftsleiterin in Kreisleitung Regenwalde in Hoffelde near Roggow (Pomerania).

Torsten!
Correct, well done, your go. I shall forego attempting to answer for at least 24 hrs as I shall be working so I hope someone else has a go ;)

O.k,

next question will be from the world of couture. Was the RADwJ using red headscarfs only or were there deviations?

Best regards
