Female Civilian Switchboard Operators

#1

Post by winker425 » 29 Nov 2016, 06:56

Hello, new to this forum. I'm seeking some background information on civilian switchboard operators during the Third Reich, more specifically in Thorn/Torun, Reichsgau Danzig-Westpreussen. My grandmother was born and raised in Torun, and in December 1939 started employment as a switchboard operator for Die Deutsche Post there, a position she held until early 1945, right before the Russians arrived. Was this considered a "sensitive" position? What category on the Volksliste would have been necessary to hold such a job? Would she have had to have been a NS party member?

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.
