Re: Annalies von Ribbentrop
What happened to Annelies post-war? I know she initiated legal proceedings against her brother over the Henkell family fortune but I would be interested to know whether she ever re-married and when she died.
Kind regards.
PS - Might this topic be better placed in the "Women of the Reich" sub-forum?

The truth is that you're a quiet, sensitive type, but if I'm prepared to take a chance I might just get to know the inner you: witty, adventurous, passionate, loving, loyal, a little bit crazy, a little bit bad, but, hey, don't us girls just love that?

Date of death is confirmed as 5th October 1973. Would still welcome information on her post-war fate though?

Re: Annalies von Ribbentrop
Annelies von Ribbentrop were interned in the former KZ Dachau and she was not, as opposed to most NS-wifes ie Emmy Göring, denazified after the war by the Spruchkammer. Her fortune was impounded but later returned with restrictions. Her brother in law made a house in Wuppertal-Elberfeld available to her and despite health problems and severe problems with her sons, she wrote several books and news paper articles to rectify her husband and took in interest in the management of her family business, Sektkellerei Henkel.
She died in Wuppertal-Elberfeld on October 5, 1973.
She used a lot a of money and effort on judicial procedures in Berlin, Munich, London and Paris, mostly for what she considered slander against Joachim von Ribbentrop and to recover her estate in Berlin, the Wilhelm Leuschner Haus.
Books:
Zwischen London und Moskau (Between London and Moskva) 1953
Verschwörung gegen den Frieden (Plot against Peace) 1963 (Source collection with comments)
Deutsch-Englishe Geheimverbindungen (German-English secret connections) 1967
I hope this helps.
Die Kriegesschuld des Widerstandes (last book, shortly before she died)

Great selection of photographs Michal! These photos more flattering pictures of Annelies, who was quite pretty when she was younger until stress and ambition aged her prematurely. The above postwar information on Annelies was interesting to read ..."problems with her sons"? What is that about?
Re: Annalies von Ribbentrop
Paul Schwartz knew the Henkell family quite well (and Joachim von Ribbentrop). In 1940, he wrote a book titled "This Man Ribbentrop", a very negative portrait of the Foreign Minister. Annelies's mother hated Joachim and did not want her daughter to marry him - she did so against her mother's (and also her father Otto's) wishes. The mother said Annelies was a very headstrong and stubborn young woman who had much ambition for her husband. I concluded from the account I read of her in Schwartz's book that she was a bit of a "bitch" as we say nowadays, not unlike Brigitte Frank (Hans Frank's wife, as described by her son Niklas in his book "In the Shadow of the Reich"). Annelie's mother said of Joachim: "Isn't it ironic that the most stupid of my son-in-laws should have gone the furthest?"
